Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Savannah, Georgia!
Thanks to decades of what could be classified as benign neglect, Savannah -- Georgia’s First City -- rises among the best preserved towns of the Old South, showcasing architectural intrigue and sultry sidelights long ago bulldozed and paved over elsewhere. Elegant, refined, secretive and seductive, Chatham County’s Savannah remains a lady of quality, a three-century-old coastal southern belle, with an elixir of eccentricity coursing through her soul and outskirts. Historic charms rest against a backdrop recalling War of 1812 and Civil War battles at forts Jackson, Screven and Pulaski. Amid a canopy of live oaks, magnolias, Spanish moss, and azaleas for this city laid out in squares are Forsyth Park, Lion Fountain by the Cotton Exchange, the cobblestoned River Street, and Telfair Museum of Art, one of the south’s oldest art repositories. City Market, a pedestrian mall with restored buildings, houses restaurants, clubs, galleries, and boutiques. Shoppers also head to Broughton and Bull streets, the heart of the antiques market, or to the city’s south side, home of two malls. Dozens of cultural attractions provide insight on history, art, and traditions within this urban setting for the novel-cum-film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Tour guides in horse-drawn carriages charm visitors with quirky stories of Savannah’s past and present, while passing by architectural marvels including some faded residences being restored to former glory. Annual events range from the spring Tour of Homes and Gardens to October’s Savannah Film and Video Festival, and December’s Festival of Trees and Lights. Belle’s Ferry provides water transportation from the Savannah Historic District to Hutchinson Island, departing every quarter hour or so for the two-minute river crossing. Greater Savannah lodging options include more than 11,000 rooms in accommodations ranging from Historic District inns and bed and breakfasts to midtown and south side motels and hotels, and nearby beach resorts.
